Approval of the February 19, 2025 Board Meeting Minutes

• Motion made, seconded and unanimously approved

Public Comment & Announcements

• Jim Hurd, a resident of Genesee, made a statement then had questions regarding EAR.  The questions were answered by Scott and Will – most during his presentation

Financial Reports

• Christina reviewed the financials for February
• Motion made, seconded, and unanimously approved to accept the financials
• She explained that we still have a couple of outstanding reimbursements from deployments
• Christina advised that the field work for the Audit will be starting on Monday. 

Reports of Officers, Committees, Professional Consultants

• Administrator/Training Coordinator Max Herte
  • Trainings are continuing
  • Tomorrow is a Wildfire Refresher Course  
  • Recruit Anne has finished her EMT testing and is working on her practicals 
• Deputy Chief Joe Auster’s Report
  • 56 calls this year, about half are medical calls
  • Still getting great response on calls 
  • Apparatus Coordinator – D Hammock
    • Deputy Chief reported that apparatus is running well with some standard maintenance 
  • Recruiting Coordinator – D. Olsen/Kleiner
    • 2 new recruits have been interviewed and will be starting academy soon
  • Facilities Coordinator
    • Deputy Chief reported that all was okay 
  • Medical Coordinator – D. Barenburg
    • Trainings are continuing
  • Wildland Coordinator – P. Greenstone
    • Peter is working to get a group together to possibly deploy
  • Branding Coordinator

    • Continuing to provide services as needed

    • Next Event they are working on is the 4th of July

New Business

• Appointment of New Board Member
  • Since JP Brewer resigned his position as a Director of the Board, we were advised by our attorney that we needed to appoint a replacement within 60 days or it will be turned over to the County Commissioners to resolve.  
  • Chief Boyles reviewed all the applicants for the Board and determined that all were equally qualified.  He recommended Marc Barella as he was the first to express an interest in running for the Board.  The Board then approved the appointment.  
  • Greg Klaiber, who is a candidate for the Board, questioned the process of the board appointment and felt that he was at a disadvantage with the appointment of Marc Barella.   President Mefford explained the reason and process that was gone through.
• April 11, 2025
  • Deputy Chief Auster informed the Board that this is the last day to remove any  ballot questions.
• Hiring of Recruiter/Risk Reduction Specialist
  • Kris Kleiner has been hired and will officially start on Monday.
• EAR
  • Will presented his power point on the EAR that he will be presenting to the firefighters on Thursday, March 27th.  He answered the questions that Jim Hurd expressed and any questions that those in attendance had.  Will also mentioned that there will be an informational meeting on April 14.  More information on that will be provided.
