The meeting was called to order at 18:00 by President Neil Frame

- Motion made, seconded and unanimously approved

Financial Reports
- Review of April financials
- The April 2025 financial report was presented by Christina Jantzef
- Review of Notable Payables
- Christina described to the Board her account system.
- Directors Frame and Dierking will set up signing privileges with the bank.
- A motion was made, seconded and approved unanimously to accept the year-to-date financials as presented. ย
Reports of Officers, Committees, Professional Consultants
- Administrator/Training Coordinator Max Herte
- Training hours have exceeded 200 hours this past month.
- Wildland training has been conducted over the last two Saturdays.ย
- Recruit Anne Dube passed her last training in Wildland 130/190 and has accumulated over 500 training hours.
- Two SCBAโs were purchased to assist in training scenarios.ย ย
- Deputy Chief Peter Greenstone
- Peter Greenstone was congratulated upon his appointment to Deputy Chief. ย He stated that he is excited for the new challenge and working on learning his role and responsibilities of the position.
- Call status for year to date is 103 total.
- Most department calls are medical related. ย
- Response times have been steady at nine and half minutes on average.
- Hike outs are now in season and the department has been busy assisting in mutual aid calls.ย
- Apparatus Coordinator – Chief Boyles
- Chief reported that all structure apparatus passed the yearly NFPA pump test recently. ย However, the wildland apparatus did not meet requirements. ย This has been an ongoing issue with the pump testing and Chief Boyles is looking into the matter.
- Ladder 971 is now compliant to NFPA standards.ย ย
- Recruiting Coordinator – Engineer Kleiner
- Three new recruits are preparing to start the Academy in August.
- Academy training will be in conjunction with Evergreen Fire and consist of recruits from Indian Hills Fire, Foothills Fire and Genesee Fire.
- Recruits are encouraged to run calls after completing physical.ย
- Facilities Coordinator – Chief Boyles
- Working on replacing the door locks on the station. ย Admin is looking for a contactor to place the existing door security system
- Medical Coordinator – D. Barenburg
- The medical team is expanding their outreach to the community this year. ย A main focus will be pool safety and the Village of Genesee is a main target for this safety training.
- The Department now has 18 EMTโs on staff and 4 AEDs strategically placed throughout the District to maximize coverage and direct response to the scene.
- CPR training for the Department is focused on ย a โPit Crewโ response to maximize the effectiveness of the method on scene.ย
- Wildland Coordinator – P. Greenstone
- The National Preparedness Level is Level 2. ย Forecasted for the Nation is a normal fire season.ย
- There is interest in deployment and 3 members are hoping to deploy sometime this summer.
- A Mountain Area Wildland Team is in the beginning stages of development to support local departments in wildland attack operations, training opportunities and increased purchasing power.ย
- Mental Health Coordinator – Chief Boyles
- The Department finalized a contract agreement with Brower Psychological to support members mental health issues. ย A few benefits provided are 24 hour phone counseling and 3 counseling visits per year for each member without pre-approval.
- All Department Per-support functions will remain the same.ย
- Auxiliary – Chief Boyles
- Upcoming special events include the Big Chili September 6 and Open House September 20.
- The Department is planning to host the 3rd Friday of the Month BBQ at Station One for the public. ย All funding for this project will be paid for through the Volunteer Fund.ย
Old Business
- EAR Update -Will Quinby
- An updated RFP is scheduled to be submitted for bid on May 29.
- It was suggested that weekly updates of progress for the EAR to the Board be a standard practice to keep open lines of communication.
- Tree mitigation will extend to 300 feet to either side of the EAR.
- It was suggested by Will that he approves the payment for the EAR project. ย The BoD would rather approve each payment through monthly meetings to ensure its completion.
- When possible additional accountant and legal fees will be capitalized to the EAR bond as necessary. ย
- All permits are in place to keep the EAR on schedule.
- No endangered species or Cultural Resources are projected to be in harm’s way of the proposed EAR project.
New Business
- RFP Formal Contract
- A motion was made, seconded and approved unanimously โTo instruct the Fire Chief to finalize and publish an RFP for construction of the EAR without substantial changes.โ
- EAR Project Manager
- A motion was made, seconded and approved unanimously to name Will Quinby, Owners Representative for GFPD.
- Potential Xcel road
- Xcel is planning a project to replace a wood pole with a steel pole. ย To complete such a project an access road will need to be cut into the EAR project to accomplish this objective. ย
- Discussion about Ballot A passing and C failing
- Full benefit to the GFPD for Ballot A is $160,000 a year.ย
- 2027 budget can not exceed 5.25% due to bond restrictions from Ballot C not passing
- The budget process begins normally in August.ย
